What changed in 2026?
The Air Force says the new standards took effect July 1, 2026. The default cardiovascular event is now a 2-mile run, WHtR is assigned up to 20 points, and strength/core are worth 15 points each. Airmen may also choose approved alternative events; the official program does not require the default events used by this v1 calculator.
How does WHtR scoring work?
DAFMAN 36-2905 calculates WHtR by dividing waist circumference by height and explicitly says the result is truncated, not rounded, to two decimal places. For example, 39.5 / 72 = 0.5486 is scored as 0.54. Entering a home measurement here is useful for planning, but an official assessment uses the Air Force measurement procedure.
What score is satisfactory?
The March 2026 DAFMAN publishes Excellent as >90, Satisfactory as 75–89.9, and Unsatisfactory as <74.9 and/or a required component minimum not met. That wording leaves exactly 90.0 unstated. If this calculator produces exactly 90.0, it intentionally shows a boundary warning instead of inventing an official category; myFitness is authoritative.
Can I use this as a BMT graduation calculator?
No. This page scores the current general USAF default-component fitness tables. Second Air Force publishes supplemental fitness guidance for Basic Military Training (BMT) and Technical Training. Use this as a BMT readiness reference, not a graduation determination.
Air Force Reserve note
Air Reserve Component implementation can have transition-specific procedures, particularly around WHtR timing and recording. Headquarters RIO has published current ARC guidance, and myFitness remains the authoritative record. If ARC instructions differ from the general scoring model shown here, follow your unit/RIO/myFitness guidance.
